Women's Soccer Suffers First Defeat of Season

Box Score

SILOAM SPRINGS -- The John Brown University women's soccer team played their first home game of the season against Bacone University on Thursday. The women put up a good fight but were defeated 0-1 in the end.

During the rainy first half, Bacone was able to score their lone goal. JBU had many great attempts at the goal but were unsuccessful.

Coach Thoma noted, "I was pleased with our play in the second half. We were able to make the needed adjustments to fill in where we were lacking during the first half. We had a lot of good looks at the goal but just came up unlucky. One big disappointment was when we lost Christie Smeal to injury. She is a integral part of our offense and it will be interesting to see how the team will pull together in her absence."

The Golden Eagles are now 3-1 on the season. JBU's next game will be on Saturday in Searcy, Arkansas against Harding (Ark.) at 2:00 p.m.
