John Brown Women’s Soccer Wins Inaugural Contest

OLATHE, Kan. -- JBU women's soccer opened the first varsity season of competition for JBU women's soccer with a big win over MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) last Saturday by the score of 7-0.

Brooke Williams has the distinction of scoring the first goal for the women's varsity soccer program. At two minutes into the game after an assist by Danae Millard, Brooke scored that first goal.

Six Golden Eagles entered into the scoring with Christie Smeal accounting for 2 of the goals.

Goals were also scored by Alisha Myers, Ashleigh Reimer, Danah Waters, and Jill Atkinson. Danae Millard led the team in assists with 2 while Christie Smeal and Brooke Williams had 1 assist each. Holly Green saved the shut-out as she blocked a penalty kick in the second half.

Coach Joe Thoma commented, "Our team had a great effort in creating scoring opportunities and our defense played a well organized game. The temperature was very hot and MidAmerica substituted freely, but our team stayed with the game plan and persevered in the extreme heat."

The Golden Eagles travel to Bartlesville, Oklahoma this Thursday (September 5) to play Oklahoma Wesleyan at 4:00 p.m.
