OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- In a match that featured two squads trying to jump up in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings, Oklahoma City (17-12, 8-6 SAC) rolled in the final two sets to finish off the Golden Eagles (13-17, 7-6 SAC) this afternoon at Abe Lemons Arena.
Freshman Molli Pugh paced the John Brown output for the third-conseuctive match, finishing the game with her third-straight double-double, landing a team-high 12 kills and 10 digs. Senior Erin McIlroy finished the match with six kills while junior Vanessa Uhrhahn notched five kills and 11 digs.
After the Golden Eagles tied the match at one apiece, the Stars used a 3-0 rally to pull away from a 15-all tie. In the fourth frame, OCU managed a 7-2 run to build a comfortable 19-9 advantage.
JBU had a difficult time hitting all night, finishing with a .027 hitting percentage in a match that they were even in one set and committed more attack errors than kills in the two others. John Brown fell in all three of those frames.
Senior Staci Williamson turned in a team-high 15 digs.
The Golden Eagles will look to continue its surge into the postseason when they face Mid-America Christian (Okla.) tomorrow (Nov. 2) at 1:00 p.m. in Oklahoma City.
