SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. -- Neither team could find the scoreboard, but sophomore goalkeeper Kristen Morency continued rewriting program history as the Golden Eagles (12-3-1, 7-1-1 SAC) tied Northwood (Texas) this morning at Alumni Field.
"Today was one of those days," said head coach Kathleen Paulsen. "It was not our best performance, but I thought that in the middle of our frustration, we kept battling. We can get better and we'll keep working on fixing the small things."
Morency (12-3-1) needed only two saves to register the shutout. The clean sheet bests her seven, a program record, set last season.
John Brown pressured Northwood (7-5-2, 4-3-2 SAC) in the first half, out-shooting the visitors 12-5, forcing NU goalkeeper Hideka Shikata (4-4-1) to make four saves. Morency collected a pair of blocks as well.
The second have was again controlled by JBU, as the hosts out-shot the Knights 7-5. Shikata continued to frustrate the Golden Eagle attack as she made five more saves.
Neither team pressured in overtime as John Brown took its first tie of the season.
Freshman midfielder Sara Lachance registered a team-high three shots on goal while freshman forward Braydi Frederick chipped in with a pair of shots on target, prompting a 19-10 Golden Eagle advantage when time expired.
JBU will return to the pitch on Tuesday (Nov. 5) when it faces St. Gregory's (Okla.) in Shawnee, Okla. The match, which was rescheduled due to inclement weather earlier in the season, marks the regular season finale for both squads.
