CHICKASHA, Okla. -- Science & Arts (Okla.) shot 64.6 percent from the floor and forced 20 turnovers, as the John Brown University men's basketball team suffered a 100-70 setback on Thursday (Jan. 19) evening inside Drover Fieldhouse.
Now with its season-long four-game road trip behind them, the Golden Eagles (10-8, 2-5 Sooner Athletic) now return home to Bill George Arena on Saturday (Jan. 21) to welcome St. Gregory's (Okla.), which just stunned No. 8 Oklahoma City tonight on the road. Tip is set for 5 p.m.
Sophomore Jake Caudle scored a team-best 23 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the floor, including five triples, as only he and senior Zach English finished the contest in double-digit scoring. English posted 12 points on a 4-of-10 mark from the floor, adding a trio of assists, as did Caudle.
JBU shot well in its own right, hitting 41.1 percent from the floor and knocking down 33.3 percent from behind the arc. Thirteen offense rebounds only translated into 17 points.
The visitors trailed USAO (8-10, 3-4) by single digits for most of the first half, but five Drover points in the final minute extended the host's lead to 11 at the intermission. A torrid 63 percent shooting mark in the second half blew open a four-possession game into a 34-point lead late in the contest for Science & Arts.
USAO's Julius Foster led all scorers with 25 points on 7-of-9 shooting, hitting 10-of-14 from the line. Taran Buie dished out eight assists and scored 17 points while Brendan Chapman added 14 points and seven boards in the win.
The Drovers shot well from long range all night, knocking down 13-of-25 from behind the arc (52 percent), and converted 25-of-32 from the charity stripe (78.1 percent).
