SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. -- Junior Jastin Redman recorded three consecutive goals and added an assist (7 points) while senior Sara Frey and freshman Sienna Nealon each added a pair of goals in a convincing 8-0 John Brown University victory over conference newcomers Central Christian (Kan.) on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 21) at Alumni Field.
Frey also added an assist to finish with five points and freshman Paige Kula took over the team lead in assists (9) with a pair of helpers as No. 20 John Brown completed its third 8-0 win in five matches.
Freshmen Maggie Allen (7-0-0) and Caitlyn Logan shared the clean sheet in which the Golden Eagle defense did not allow a single Tiger shot attempt. Central Christian (4-10-0, 1-5-0 Sooner Athletic) suffered through 31 shot attempts against, 16 of which found the target.
Central Christian keeper Goldie Bougher made eight saves, but a trio of John Brown (13-2-0, 7-0-0) goals in the first 20 minutes started the offensive onslaught that would last through the remainder of the contest.
Nealon netted her first of the game, her fourth game-winner, on a header at the back post off a serve from junior Aspen Carpenter just nine minutes into the match. Frey tallied her fourth of the year off a CCC turnover that she ripped 25 yards, doubling the Golden Eagle lead.
Redman scored her 10th and 11th of the season, respectively, in the first half, when she chipped Bougher from five yards from Frey and Kula in the 21st minute before her eight-yard rip from Kula and Frey ballooned the JBU lead to 4-0 in the 43rd minute.
Redman completed the hattrick in the 53rd minute by following up her own shot. Her initial shot was saved by Bougher, but Redman headed in the rebound, notching her 12th of the season.
JBU's final three goals came off plays that initiated on the flanks as Frey and Nealon potted their second of the night, each, while junior Anna Brown tallied her sixth of the season when her header from sophomore Hannah Sweaney pushed the hosts' lead to 8-0 in the 77th minute.
The Golden Eagles will now face Oklahoma City on Tuesday (Oct. 24) at 5 p.m. in Oklahoma City. John Brown will then take on Southwestern Christian (Okla.) on Saturday before closing out the season with Science & Arts (Okla.) on Oct. 31 in Chickasha, Okla.
