Women’s soccer makes easy work of Ouachita Baptist

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. -- Junior Aspen Robinson provided her second two-goal outing of the season and junior Anna Brown scored her first goal of the season as the No. 17 John Brown University women's soccer team controlled the match from start to finish in a 3-0 drubbing of Ouachita Baptist (Ark.) on Friday afternoon (Sept. 15) at Kluck Field.

Robinson connected on goals three and four of the season, ripping the game-winner in the 28th minute and provided the last of the bookend goals in the 55th minute. Brown's goal provided JBU's insurance in the 37th minute as the visitors outshot the Tigers (0-4-1) 21-1 in the match.

Junior Jastin Redman pitched in with a pair of primary assists while freshman Paige Kula and senior Sara Frey each added a helper in the victory.

Freshman Caitlyn Logan remained perfect on the season, increasing her record to 5-0-0, and shared a team shutout with freshman Maggie Allen, who saw her first career collegiate action. The long shot Ouachita Baptist mustered sailed wide of the frame.

"I think anytime you can get a solid result on the road, that is a good thing," head coach Kathleen Paulsen noted. "It was great to have everyone contributing today. I think there are things we did well and things we can do better. Overall, I was pleased with the performance."

Eleven players records shots for the Golden Eagles (5-1-0) as Carpenter led all players with four attempts, while sophomore Katherine Haar and freshman Paige Kula each contributed three apiece. Barbara Pascale attempted Baptist's lone shot attempt of the match.

John Brown returns to action on Tuesday (Sept. 19) at Oklahoma Wesleyan. The Golden Eagles knocked off OKWU 1-0 last season at Alumni Field on Redman's 81st minute strike. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.
