OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- John Brown University men's cross country sophomore Ben Martin used a career-best time at the Rim Rock Farm Classic to earn his second career SAC Runner of the Week honor, the league office announced Monday (Oct. 1) afternoon.

One race after shaving 10 seconds off his previous career-best time, Martin returned to the course at Rim Rock Farm and bested it again, this time by another 17 seconds, to claim 55th in a time of 26:26 to pace the Golden Eagle effort. After scoring in all five meets his freshman season and averaging a 27:27 mark in 8,000-meter races, Martin has returned this season to lead JBU in all three races, including having an average time 34 seconds faster than last season, clocking in at 26:43 through two full-length races this year.

"Ben is a great student-athlete," head coach Scott Schochler boasted. "He has put in a huge amount of hard work and he is a fierce competitor. He should continue to post more great results in the coming weeks."

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday (Oct. 6) at the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational, set to be run at the Gordon Cooper Technology Center.
