Two Redman Goals in Two Minutes Send Women’s Soccer to Easy Win

BETHANY, Okla. -- Senior Jastin Redman scored 53 seconds before halftime and then again 20 seconds into the second half, allowing the No. 7 John Brown University women's soccer team to walk away with a 4-0 win over Southwestern Christian (Okla.) on Tuesday (Oct. 16) afternoon at the Cagle Family Field.

Junior Kristen Howell added her third of the season on an individual effort and sophomore Sienna Nealon's pass into the box was redirected into the Eagle goal by a defender, helping the Golden Eagles (11-2-1, 3-1-1 Sooner Athletic) to a convincing win.

Southwestern Christian (7-6-1, 1-4-0) lost its fourth-consecutive match. The visitors out-shot SCU 21-5 and racked up a 13-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Jordyn Howle made four saves on eight attempts for SCU in goal and absorbed the loss. She gave way to backup Ashlynn Haylett with just over 10 minutes remaining in the contest.

Redman's seventh of the season came after a collision with Howle in the box. The ball popped free and Redman deposited the strike into the left side of the goal, earning her a fourth game-winner of the season.

Just 73 seconds later, with halftime just ending, Redman added an insurance marker with a beautiful volley to the left side of the goal from the top of the 18. All alone, the Aspen Carpenter cross bounced through a pair of SCU defender before Redman finished the attack. Nealon began the play up the left flank.

Nine minutes after doubling its lead, the Golden Eagles went up three on an own goal. Southwestern Christian played a Nealon pass into the box into the net, finishing off a pretty JBU build up towards goal.

Howell's third of the season came in the 68th minute as a result of an opportune chance. SCU failed to clear the ball out of its box and Howell made the hosts pay by placing a shot to the upper left corner past Howle.

Sophomore Caitlyn Logan was called upon just once to make a save, as she recorded her ninth shutout of the season, lowering John Brown's goals-against average in conference play to .380. JBU has allowed just two goals in five Sooner Athletic games.

JBU will return to Siloam Springs before venturing to McPherson, Kan. on Saturday (Oct. 20) to face Central Christian in a weekend matinee matchup.
