SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. -- In its second match against Texas Wesleyan this season, the John Brown University volleyball team fell in three sets (23-25, 21-25, 19-25) on Saturday (Oct. 27) afternoon inside Bill George Arena.
With the setback, the Golden Eagles fall to 13-14 (12-6 Sooner Athletic) on the season and all but assured Texas Wesleyan third place in the upcoming SAC tournament, scheduled for Nov. 6-10.
Southwestern Christian (Okla.) is just one game behind John Brown, and with two matches left for both SCU and the Golden Eagles, the teams will vie for home-court advantage in the quarterfinals.
Senior Bayli Reagan and sophomore Taylor Glover each contributed six kills in the setback. John Brown hit .132 (29-14-114) as a team, but tapered off as the match progressed, blunted by 12 Texas Wesleyan team blocks. TXWES hit .180 (45-22-128) in the match.
For the second-straight match, junior Elizabeth Williams earned a double-double, this time with 12 assists and 10 digs. She also added a trio of service aces.
Wesleyan's Sasha Robinson flirted with a triple-double, ending the contest with a match-best 11 kills, 25 assists and eight digs. Chastiny Brown and Tierra Coverson added nine terminations apiece.
Up next, John Brown returns to action on Friday (Nov. 2) evening at Langston (Okla.) before closing out the regular season at Central Christian (Kan.) on Saturday afternoon.
