SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. -- For the eighth time this season, the John Brown University men's basketball team surpasses the 90-point mark, this time in a 94-49 thumping of Ecclesia (Ark.) inside Bill George Arena on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 3).
Junior Josh Bowling posted a game-high 20 points on a perfect 8-of-8 shooting mark, including four triples. Junior Jake Caudle made three treys on the afternoon and contributed 11 points and seven rebounds while freshman Densier Carnes registered nine points and seven boards in the victory.

Moving to 7-1 on the season when shooting over 50 percent, the Golden Eagles (13-9) hit 32-of-61 from the floor and out-boarded the visiting Royals 48-36. Ecclesia received a valiant effort from Dequclean Bagsby in the loss, as the guard dropped 15 points and generated three steals, but the visitors dropped its second straight after losing its first 12 games of the season.
The Royals (1-14) had no answer to start the game as the Golden Eagles as six different players scored a bucket as the hosts built a 16-0 lead before Christ White finally got Ecclesia on the board, breaking the game-opening 6:20 drought.
The teams scrapped for 12 points apiece through the middle of the first half before the hosts built a 24 point lead when sophomore Kristijan Joksimovic's dribble-drive layup fell late in the first half.
Bowling scored 11 of his game-high 20 in the second half and Ecclesia scored just seven field goals again in the second frame, allowing John Brown to build a 45-point advantage before the game was completed. Powered by Bowling's output, the JBU reserves out-scored the Ecclesia bench 62-16.
Ecclesia hit just 14-of-63 from the field on the afternoon (22.2 percent), helping JBU to post its best defensive effort of the season. Noah Banks pulled down a game-high nine boards in the loss for the Royals.
JBU now returns back to Sooner Athletic action, this time traveling to Oklahoma City to take on Mid-America Christian (Okla.) on Thursday (Feb. 8) in a pivotal matchup as the Evangels fell half a game behind the Golden eagles in the league table. Tip is scheduled for 8 p.m.
