Keiser Upends Men's Soccer in Orange Beach

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. -- Highlighted by two goals in each half, Keiser (Fla.) handed the John Brown University men's soccer team a 4-1 setback on Saturday (Aug. 8) afternoon at the Orange Beach Sportsplex.

Hannu Tam recorded the bookend goals for the Seahawks (4-1-1), his fourth and fifth of the season, while Amine Meski contributed a pair of assists as the Golden Eagles (3-2-0) suffered its second-straight defeat.

Facing a 2-0 hole at the intermission, John Brown cut the lead in half when freshman Micah Herrmann volleyed an athletic shot over Kesier keeper Felipe Godoy in the 50th minute. Freshman Goncalo Verissimo notched the primary assist as he headed a pass into the box.

After the Seahawks out-shot JBU 11-5 in the first half, the Blue and Gold returned the favor, posting a 10-5 shooting advantage in the second half.

While both teams landed seven shots on target, Godoy recorded six saves while senior Britt Wisener took the loss in goal for the Golden Eagles, recorded a trio of saves.

Keiser jumped up to a quick 2-0 lead scoring four minutes apart in the 12th and 16th minutes, respectively.

John Brown returns to action on Thursday (Sept. 13) against St. Thomas (Texas) at 5 p.m. at Alumni Field.
