Women’s Basketball Drops Matinee to Science and Arts

SILOAM SPRINGS -- The John Brown University women's basketball team trailed by just one point before visiting Science & Arts pieced together a devastating run, forcing the Golden Eagles into a 74-45 setback in its 2020-21 home opener on Saturday (Jan. 30) afternoon inside Bill George Arena.

Sophomore Tarrah Stephens and freshman Josie Sisk each posted four points, and the Golden Eagles (0-2, 0-2 Sooner Athletic) held neck-and-neck with USAO, down 14-13.

The Drovers (9-3, 6-1) then ran away on a 22-5 run over the next 7:15 to take a commanding 36-18 lead. JBU was limited to 1-of-8 shooting during the stretch and committed six turnovers.

Stephens scored eight points and freshman Leah Anderson added five, including a strong and-one conversion, in the third quarter to out-score Science & Arts 22-20.

Stephens led John Brown with 12 points, while Sisk added eight.

Milagros Career scored a game-high 17 for the Drovers, as counterpart Zaria Dorsey notched a double-double - earning 15 points and 15 rebounds.

The Golden Eagles begin a three-game road trip on Monday (Feb. 1) evening, visiting No. 7 Oklahoma City. The game tips off at 6 p.m. and will air on the SAC Sports Network.
