Seven-Match Romp Continues Through SAC, Brian Harvey Field

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Three different players scored and sophomore Ryan Winingham boasted a goal and an assist as the Golden Eagles racked up an 18-6 shooting advantage in No. 7 John Brown University women's soccer team's 3-0 victory over Oklahoma City on Saturday (Oct. 16) afternoon at Brian Harvey Field.

Senior Megan Hutto scored the game-winner in the ninth minute and senior Alair Love became the seventh Golden Eagle to score at least two goals this season just 16 seconds later. Winingham booted a long-range blast to the corner in the 56th minute after Love hit the post to add a third goal to the scoreboard.

John Brown (10-1-0, 5-0-0 Sooner Athletic) has now won seven straight, outscoring its league opposition by a 24-1 margin. The Stars (7-5-0, 2-3-0) have now lost two straight and three of their last five contests.

McLain Moss rattled the crossbar after John Brown made it 3-0, but senior Caitlyn Logan needed no further help, making three saves in the second half to improve to 10-1-0 on the season. The clean sheet was her sixth of the season and John Brown's ninth overall.

Hutto's third goal of the season came in a scramble in the box. After senior Vanessa Reynoso's service from the corner, Winingham ripped a point-blank shot that was stopped by City's Josie Knox, but Hutto was there to deposit the rebound – her second game-winner of the season.

Just moments after the ensuing kickoff, sophomore Gifte Pavatt's throw-in on the right flank sprung sophomore Lauren Walter down the field. Walter's perfectly-placed cross in the box found Love for a one-touch strike to the right pocket of the goal, adding an insurance tally to the Golden Eagle effort.

After a commanding 9-1 shooting advantage in the first half, the visitors added to its lead just over 10 minutes into the second half, Love sent an attempt off the left post behind Knox, with Reynoso controlling the rebound. She turned to play it back to the midfield and after a touch from senior Anna Schuchardt, Winingham stepped into a 30-yard strike to the bottom left corner of the goal, her second of the season.

Winingham and Love led all players with three shots each, while Moss and Ciana Carlton paced the Stars with two apiece.

Knox took the loss in goal, allowing three goals on 12 shots. She finished with nine saves.

The Golden Eagles finally return home after a three-game stretch on the road, and will host Oklahoma Panhandle State in a rare Monday (Oct. 18) afternoon contest. Slated to kick off at 1 p.m., the contest will air live on the SAC Sports Network.
