FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- The John Brown University men's cross country team placed 13th out of 24 teams at Saturday's (Oct. 4) Chile Pepper Festival at Agri Park, posting 316 points in the 256-runner field.
Freshman Payton Brack led JBU with a 36th-place finish, crossing the line in 27:03 over the 8,000-meter course. Junior Henry Zedler followed in 57th place with a time of 27:46, while freshman Jeremiah Briscoe finished 73rd in 28:14.
The Blue and Gold's scoring was rounded out by freshman Landry Finch who clocked 29:09 for 111th place and junior Josh Freeman who posted 29:35 for 127th place, giving John Brown a 2:32 spread among its top five runners.
Rounding out the Golden Eagles' top seven were freshman Brayden Frederick who placed 143rd at 29:47 and sophomore Justin Akers who hit the tape in 212th place at 32:37.
Saint Mary (Kan.) claimed the team title with 39 points. Park (Mo.) finished second with 69 points, while Rockhurst (Mo.) took third place with 130 points.
The Golden Eagles will now turn its attention to the Golden Eagle Invitational on Saturday morning (Oct. 11), scheduled to take place at Pollard's Field.
