KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- John Brown University placed three student-athletes on the NAIA Women's Soccer All-America teams, the national office announced Tuesday morning (Dec. 16), as junior Julia Lambert and sophomore Marely Fonseca collected First Team honors while senior Aubrey Winter earned Second Team distinction.
The three selections mark the program's second-highest single-season total and extend JBU's streak to six consecutive seasons with at least one NAIA All-American.
Lambert and Fonseca both garnered First Team recognition, marking the first time in program history that John Brown has produced multiple First Team All-Americans in the same season. For Fonseca, the honor represents her second straight First Team selection, while Winter's Second Team nod adds another chapter to a decorated collegiate career.
With the 2025 selections, John Brown now boasts 16 All-America honors in program history, continuing a sustained run of national visibility that has spanned six consecutive seasons.
Lambert, a junior forward from Highlands Ranch, Colo., authored one of the most complete campaigns in program history. The 2025 Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Year started all 22 matches and totaled 13 goals and 10 assists for 36 points, adding four game-winning goals while serving as a central figure in JBU's attack throughout conference and national tournament play. She accumulated at least one point in 16 of 22 matches in 2025.
Lambert set the tone early in the season, recording at least one goal or assist in all of JBU's first five matches as the Golden Eagles climbed into the national top five. She followed her 2024 NAIA Third Team All-America season with another step forward in 2025, earning her third consecutive First Team All-Conference honor. Through three seasons, Lambert has posted 37 goals, 38 assists and 112 points across 64 matches.
Fonseca, a sophomore goalkeeper from San Jose, Costa Rica, anchored a Golden Eagle defense that ranked among the nation's most reliable throughout the season. Starting all 21 matches, she compiled a 15-2-3 record with nine clean sheets, a 0.60 goals-against average and a .806 save percentage while navigating a schedule that included multiple ranked opponents and deep postseason competition.
From early September through the heart of conference play, Fonseca anchored JBU to an 8-1-1 stretch, allowing only four goals across 10 matches. In six postseason matches, Fonseca combined for a 0.83 goals-against average, highlighted by a 0.67 mark during the SAC tournament and a 1.00 average through NAIA Championship play. She earned Sooner Athletic Goalkeeper of the Year honors for a second straight season and was named First Team All-Conference after allowing one goal or fewer in 20 of her 21 appearances. Through two seasons at JBU, she owns a 27-5-3 career record with 17 shutouts, a 0.62 goals-against average and a .807 save percentage.
Winter, a senior forward from Wichita, Kan., rounded out the All-America trio with a Second Team selection following a career-best season for the Blue and Gold. A starter in all 22 matches, Winter finished with 14 goals and 11 assists for a team-leading 39 points, adding three game-winning goals and delivering some of her strongest performances on the biggest stages. Winter surged down the stretch, totaling seven goals and four assists over JBU's final six matches as the Golden Eagles advanced through the SAC and NAIA tournaments.
Over JBU's three NAIA tournament matches, Winter accounted for five goals and two assists, directly contributing to seven of the team's eight goals. A 2025 First Team All-Conference honoree, Winter concluded her collegiate career with 38 goals, 36 assists and 112 points – the fourth-most ever in program history – in 85 matches, complementing her United Soccer Coaches All-America Second Team recognition from the 2023 season.
The All-America honors cap a 2025 campaign that further established John Brown among the nation's elite programs. The Golden Eagles finished 15-3-4 overall and went undefeated in Sooner Athletic play at 7-0-2, capturing their third consecutive SAC regular season championship and sixth straight SAC Tournament title. During the regular season, JBU climbed as high as No. 3 in the NAIA national rankings – the highest ranking in program history – and entered the 40-team NAIA National Championship as the No. 5 overall seed, another program first.
In NAIA postseason action, the Golden Eagles defeated Hastings 4-1 in the Second Round and advanced to the quarterfinals with a 4-1 victory over 13th-seeded Life (Ga.) before falling 1-0 in the final minutes to 13th-seeded Cumberlands (Ky.). The back-to-back quarterfinal appearances in 2024 and 2025 represent the deepest national tournament runs in program history.
