Snodgrass Posts Double-Double, John Brown Falls to Science & Arts, 57-49

CHICKASHA, Okla. -- Despite clawing back from a 15-point second half deficit to within two points, the John Brown University women's basketball committed 22 turnovers and fell short at Science & Arts (Okla.), suffering a 57-49 loss in Sooner Athletic play on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 8) inside the Drover Fieldhouse.

The Golden Eagles (12-12, 10-10 Sooner Athletic) were led by freshman Sarah Snodgrass, who posted a game-high 19 points and a season-best 18 rebounds while adding two assists and two steals to complete her 19th double-double of the season. Freshman Carley Sexton came off the bench and contributed 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting, including a pair of three-pointers, while sophomore Abbey Sanders finished with five points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

John Brown struggled to find consistency offensively, shooting below 30 percent (16-of-55) for the third time this season and converting 7-of-30 (23 percent) from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, Science & Arts (14-10, 12-8) took advantage of JBU's 22 turnovers, converting them into 19 points. The Drovers also edged out JBU in rebounding, 41-39, and held a 14-13 advantage in second-chance points.

Freshman Riley Gottsponer opened the game with a triple, but then the Golden Eagles trailed 15-5 after a 15-2 response run from USAO.

While only a four-point game at the intermission, the hosts rallied on a 13-2 run to open the second half, placing JBU in a 15-point hole, 45-30. Snodgrass then scored four consecutive points and the Blue and Gold heated up from behind the arc, landing triples from senior Graci Harris, sophomore Briley Burns and Sexton to piece together a 16-3 run that brought the visitors to within two, 48-46.

Unfortunately, John Brown finished 1-of-10 from the floor, allowing the Drovers to score nine of the game's final 12 points.

Evangelia Davlakou led USAO with 19 points, four rebounds, and three assists, while Hannah Harris secured a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Davielis Berroa added 10 points and knocked down both of her three-point attempts, while Alexia Corrales finished with eight points, four steals, and a block.

John Brown will return home on Thursday night (Feb. 15) to begin the final homestand of the regular season, welcoming Oklahoma Panhandle State to Bill George Arena for a 6 p.m. tipoff. Fans can catch all the action live on the SAC Sports Network.
