SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. -- The John Brown University volleyball team fell in three sets (11-25, 14-25, 17-25) on Friday night (Sept. 26) inside Bill George Arena.
The Golden Eagles (6-10, 2-6 Sooner Athletic) was led on offense by freshman Clara Hyke, who turned in nine kills on 20 swings (.350), and on defense by freshman Paige Addington and her 11 digs. She also added two of JBU's four aces on the night.
The offense struggled throughout the evening for the Blue and Gold, which hit -.021 (21-23-97) and found difficulty on the serve-receive, allowing the Drovers (10-7, 4-4) to pile up 12 service aces in the three-set outing.
The win for the Drovers was the first in program history over John Brown, which entered the all-time series 16-0 against USAO.
Chloe Conover smacked a match-high 12 terminations (.556) for Science & Arts, and added 11 digs and three block-assists, while Morgan Kobe added six kills, four aces and three block assists. Ytzel Garcia piled up 26 assists and six digs in the win.
John Brown will search for its first win on the homestand when Mid-America Christian (Okla.) makes its way to Bill George Arena for a matinee contest Saturday afternoon (Sept. 27). Live on the SAC Sports Network and the Urban Edge Network, the contest is slated for a 1 p.m. first serve.
