OKLAHOMA CITY -- John Brown University sophomore Paige Addington has been named the Sooner Athletic Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, presented by Digital Scoreboards, the conference office announced Monday morning (Sept. 7).
It is the fourth career SAC weekly honor for Addington, a defensive specialist from Siloam Springs, Ark.
Addington helped the Golden Eagles (5-5) to a 1-1 record to start conference play, recording 49 digs on the week, averaging 7.00 scoops per set. She turned in her best performance in JBU's sweep of Southwestern Christian (Okla.), posting 26 digs, the third-best single-match total of her career.
Addington was also steady in serve-receive, going 39-of-40 for a .975 average with only one error on the week.
The Blue and Gold now travel to Texas, first to take on Nelson (Texas) on Friday evening (Sept. 11), with first serve scheduled for 6 p.m. The match will be carried live on both the SAC Sports Network and the Urban Edge Network.
