Fergen played three seasons under head coach Kris Flood at Republic High School where she helped the Tigers amass three district titles and back-to-back conference championships. While there, she secured the program's free-throw efficiency record, set as a senior, and was also named to the All-District and All-Conference first team lists. Fergen paced her squad in scoring in her final season and was named the team's offensive MVP.

Taylor is the daughter of Jeff and Terrie Fergen and majors in biology.
