Bayless was a four-year letterwinner under head coaches Sean Ramsay and Kerwin Dees at Regent Preparatory. While there, he captured program records in total points (1,037) and rebounds (800) while leading the squad to back-to-back OSSAA Class A state semifinal appearances. Bayless also helped the team secure consecutive Frontier Conference tournament titles and was a two-time All-Conference first team selection.
