Ty Beard

Ty Beard enters his third season as assistant men's basketball coach after serving as the assistant coach at Oklahoma Wesleyan for three seasons.

Beard spent the previous three seasons under Beschta at Oklahoma Wesleyan where the Eagles finished the trio of campaigns with an overall mark of 62-36 (.633) and 32-12 (.727) in Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference play. After the first two seasons that featured 16-16 and 21-10 records, respectively, Beard assisted Beschta and the Eagles to a 25-10 record in 2013-14, which was highlighted by a 12-2 conference record and a regular season conference co-championship.

After dispatching Central Baptist (Ark.), 97-62, in the quarterfinals, Wesleyan downed Ozarks (Mo.) in the semifinals by a score of 100-90 in overtime. In the finals, OKWU faced Bellevue (Neb.) in Bartlesville, Okla. The Bruins were able to escape with an 87-75 win, but Beard and the Eagles were still awarded an at-large berth to the 2014 NAIA National Championships, where it was able to knock off then-No. 12 Morningside (Iowa) in the round of 32 before falling in the round of 16 to eventual national champions, Indiana Wesleyan.

Prior to Wesleyan, Beard spent six seasons with basketball program at Baylor University while both an undergraduate and graduate student. From 2005-09, he served as a student manager before being promoted to head manager in his senior year. Baylor enjoyed success during those years and posted a 64-55 record (.538), but while Beard served as a graduate assistant, the Bears notched a 28-8 mark in 2009-10 and an 18-13 record in 2010-11. In 2010, the Bears made an appearance in the NCAA Elite Eight.

Beard finished his undergraduate requirements in 2009 and received a Bachelor of Science in education before completing a Master of Science in education with a concentration in health, human performance and recreation in 2011.

Beard and his wife, Meagan, reside in Siloam Springs with their son, Truett.
