Prep Career

Wertjes was a four-year letterwinner for head coach Rich Brown at Tumwater High School where he recorded his best 5,000-meter mark (17:32) as senior. He helped team to four consecutive league titles and a trio fo district championships.

Nate is the son of Alan and Catherine Wertjes and majors in business administration.
