Paul Pautsch enters his ninth season as head men's and women's tennis coach.
For two decades, Pautsch served as the Bentonville High School boy's and girl's tennis coach where he led the Tigers to a combined 14 Arkansas Activities Association state titles. While at Bentonville, Pautsch implemented a no-cut program which led to exponential growth, including a varsity and three junior varsity programs for each team. He was also heavily involved in developing the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) chapter at Bentonville prior to his departure.
Before spending two decades at the helm of the Tigers' tennis programs, the 33-year tennis veteran accepted the University of Arkansas assistant men's tennis coaching position in 1987 and spent a total of four seasons in Fayetteville, giving Pautch valuable NCAA I experience.
A native of rural Waupun, Wis., Pautsch grew up a multi-sport athlete, excelling at tennis and baseball in addition to hockey and football. He turned down a collegiate baseball scholarship to focus on tennis, but then served in the military for 12 years.
After offering a large portion of his life to the armed forces (1966-1978), Pautsch was able to return to the courts in 1979 when he was named the head tennis professional at the Pleasant Valley Tennis Club in Jackson, Wis., prior to becoming self-employed as a private contractor at local tennis clubs in the greater-Wisconsin area.
Pautsch served as the director of tennis and head tennis professional for the Kingsdale Tennis Center in Bella Vista, Ark., owned and operated by the B.V. Property Owner's Association, and recently retired after three decades in that capacity.
Pautsch, a certified USPTA Elite Professional for over 30 years, is also a certified Professional Tennis Registry 10-and-Under member and an Adult Development Professional for over three decades. He later earned his Associate of Applied Science in Marketing from Moraine Park Technical College before finishing his education at the University of Wisconsin at Stout with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing.
Pautsch and his wife, Brenda, currently reside in Bella Vista.
