Basye was a four-year letterwinner at Canyon del Oro High School under head coach Michelle Gerard. While a Dorado, she set personal bests in the javelin (27.89 meters) and long jump (4.53 meters) as a sophomore. In her upperclassmen years, Basye set two more, including in the triple jump (10.03 meters) and 100 meter hurdles (19.26). The former Canyon del Oro Female Athlete of the Year qualified for the state championships in both the javelin and triple jump, all while earning four letters in girl's basketball and serving as the football team's placekicker in her final senior.

Nikki is the daughter of Jody and Jenny Basye and hopes to major in international business ... sister Haley played softball at Embry-Riddle (Ariz.).
