SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. -- The John Brown womens soccer team (7-6-1, 3-1-1 SAC) received a pair of goals from freshman Aspen Robinson just three minutes apart in the first half, allowing the Golden Eagles to overcome an early 1-0 deficit to capture a 3-1 victory on Saturday (Oct. 17) over Mid-America Christian (Okla.) at Alumni Field.
After allowing a goal in the 17th minute, JBU responded when Robinson rifled a 26-yard bomb to the upper left corner of the goal in the 21st minute to tie the score at one. The goal kick was intercepted by sophomore Sarah Hill, who deflected the ball to Robinson in the midfield before the long strike. It was Hills fifth assist of the season.
Three minutes later, junior Sara Lachance lofted a cross from the right flank and found the head of Robinson at the left post, which sunk just under the crossbar for the game-winner.
With two goals in the contest, Robinson has now struck for seven goals in her last six matches. She has also added three assists over the span, totaling 17 points.
Freshman Jastin Redman added an insurance goal in the 43rd minute to complete the scoring. With her team-leading 10th goal of the year, Redman blasted home a rebound off a Robinson attempt from eight yards out.
Junior keeper Hannah Poor captured the victory by blocking four shots in the win. She now moves to 7-5-1 on the season. MACU goalkeeper Kaitlyn Williams dropped to 5-6-1 on the year and finished the match with five saves on eight shots against.
