Volleyball Now Looks Toward Postseason After Sweep of Central Christian

McPHERSON, Kan. -- The John Brown University volleyball team closed out the regular season by posting its 11th sweep of the season and ran away with a quick 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-19) win over Central Christian (Kan.) at the Ed Pyle Sports Complex on Saturday (Nov. 3) afternoon.

Junior Jessica Meyer posted a team-best eight kills on 15 swings (.333) and added four block-assists while senior Bayli Reagan notched seven terminations and three total rejections.

The Golden Eagles (16-14, 14-6 Sooner Athletic) already had the four seed sewn up entering the match, but that didn't stop JBU from holding the hosts to a .010 (24-23-102) attacking effort on the afternoon.

Nine service aces continued multiple John Brown runs. Junior Elizabeth Williams and Reagan each served up three while Meyer added a pair.

Williams passed out a match-high 19 assists while freshman Carrie Ciesla added 10 of her own.

The Golden Eagle defense kept Central Christian's top two attackers in negative hitting percentage. Rebekah Glessner posted eight kills but hit -.027 on 37 swings, while Anslee Bridges secured only two terminations on 24 swings (-.208).

Fresman Jenna Lowery eclipsed the 20-dig mark for the 13th time this season with a match-high 21 scoops in the win.

Now with the regular season over, John Brown will turn to hosting an SAC tournament quarterfinal matchup for the fourth-consecutive season, where the Golden Eagles have won all three inside Bill George Arena. JBU will welcome Southwestern Christian (Okla.) to Siloam Springs for the second time this season on Tuesday (Nov. 6) at 7 p.m. JBU defeated the visiting Eagles 3-2 back on Oct. 4.
