SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. -- The John Brown University women's tennis team fell victim to Missouri Western State's fourth-consecutive win as the visiting Griffons took a 9-0 final score on Friday (March 1) afternoon at the JBU Tennis Courts.
The Griffons (5-2) swept doubles play, but the tandem of senior Julia McNeill and freshman Sydney Smith pushed Mireia Birosta and Ciarra Gilmore to a 9-7 score at the top flight. MWSU won the bottom two flights in convincing fashion over the Golden Eagles (0-4).
Missouri Western would remain perfect throughout singles play, winning all six matches. While more lopsided than doubles' action, Smith pushed Birosta to a 6-4 score in the first set.
John Brown will return to action on Thursday (March 6) at NCAA II Arkansas Tech. First serve is slated for 2 p.m.
