RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. -- The John Brown University women's tennis team continued its gaunlet schedule that included its second-straight NCAA II program, absorbing a 9-0 setback at Arkansas Tech on Wednesday (March 6) afternoon at the Chartwells Women's Sports Complex.
Senior Julia McNeill and freshman Sydney Smith pushed the top Golden Suns (3-2) duo of Annabel Rowlands and Kami Ward to a 6-4 score at the top flight before Arkansas Tech swept the remaining two slots.
Smith pushed Katie Harris at the No. 2 singles spot, 6-2, 6-4, while McNeill took a pair of points off Ward at the top singles slight, 6-2, 6-0. John Brown (0-5) combined to take four points over the final four singles matches.
JBU returns to action on Friday (March 8) to face Ozarks (Ark.) for the third time this season at 2 p.m. in Clarksville.
