OKLAHOMA CITY -- John Brown University senior setter Lauren Cloud has been named the Sooner Athletic's Setter of the Week after guiding the Golden Eagles to a 3-1 record at the Columbia (Mo.) Hampton Inn Classic, the conference office announced Monday (Aug. 29) afternoon.
In her third-career weekly SAC honor effort, Cloud averaged 6.5 assists per set while directing the John Brown offense to a .242 (242-84-653) hitting percentage in a trio of wins over No. 25 Ottawa (Kan.), Tabor (Kan.) and host No. 20 Columbia. She tallied over 30 helpers in both contests in day one versus Ottawa and Evangel (Mo.), and followed up the performance with 29 and 25 assists versus Tabor and Columbia, respectively.
In the contest versus Ottawa, the Springdale native completed her first double-double of the season, finish the match with 18 digs. She also added two service aces in all four matches on the weekend.
John Brown is 3-1 and opens SAC play on Wednesday (Aug. 31) evening at Oklahoma City. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
