Non-Conference Schedule Winds Down with Shutout Setback in Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Marred by 10 cards and physical play, the John Brown University men's soccer team suffered a fourth-consecutive loss on Monday (Sept. 18) night at No. 15 Columbia (Mo.), falling by a 4-0 final at R. Marvin Owens Field.

The Cougars (3-1-2) narrowly sent more shots on goal than John Brown (3-4-0), 7-5, but broke the level match open in the 39th minute shortly before the intermission.

Columbia tacked on two more goals in the second half while the Golden Eagles played down a man for 51 minutes of the match.

Sophomore Adam Tebbs recorded four saves on seven Cougar shots on frame and moved to 0-2-0 on the season. Alejandro Molto Munoz stopped all five JBU shots, moving to 1-0-1 on the year while collecting his first-career clean sheet.

Junior Alejandro Ramirez led all Golden Eagles with three shot attempts with one on target.

With the non-conference season at a close, John Brown returns to action on Tuesday (Sept. 26) evening when it travels to rival Science & Arts (Okla.) to take on the Drovers at McLaughlin Field. Carried live on the SAC Sports Network, the match is slated to kick off at 7:15 p.m.
