Bosma's Early Brace Leads No. 19 John Brown to 6-0 Rout of Central Christian

McPHERSON, Kan. -- Senior Elise Bosma scored twice in the opening six minutes to lead the No. 19 John Brown University women's soccer team to a commanding 6-0 win over Central Christian (Kan.) at the CCCK Soccer Field on Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 15).

The Golden Eagles struck early and often, returning to the win column after suffering its first league loss in 731 days this past Tuesday at Mid-America Christian (Okla.).

With the win, John Brown (7-5-1, 4-1-0 Sooner Athletic) continues its strong run in the conference table, delivering an impressive 26-shot performance, with 15 on target, while maintaining a clean sheet on the defensive end.

The visitors wasted no time establishing control, as Bosma opened the scoring just 1:05 into the match, finishing off an assist from junior Aubrey Winter for her second goal of the season. Moments later, senior Lauren Walter doubled the lead in the 4th minute, slotting home her fifth goal of the season after a smooth setup from Brooklyn Hendricks. Bosma wasn't done, as she added her second of the match in the 6th minute, assisted by Walter, giving JBU a commanding 3-0 lead within the first six minutes.

In the second half, sophomore Julia Lambert added her sixth goal of the season in the 51st minute, pushing the Golden Eagles further ahead. Freshman Katherine Keys followed up with a 65th-minute strike, her fifth of the season, after being teed up by Walter once again, who capped off a multi-assist performance. The final tally came in the 79th minute, as sophomore Addie Craig netted her second of the season, assisted by freshman Joanna Long, sealing the 6-0 result.

John Brown controlled every facet of the match, outshooting Central Christian 26-2. The Golden Eagles earned 10 corner kicks to and left Central Christian without an opportunity from the corner flag, consistently pressuring the Tiger defense. Freshman Marely Fonseca (4-2-0) kept her fourth clean sheet of the season but wasn't tested, as JBU's defense limited Central Christian to just two shot attempts, none of which were on target.

CCCK goalkeeper Celena Vanhaezebrouc (2-4-0) made eight saves before being replaced by Katelyn Beckman, who added one more stop in the final 17 minutes.

John Brown will return to action on Saturday (Oct. 19) as they host Nelson (Texas) at Alumni Field on Senior Day. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m., with coverage available on the SAC Sports Network.
