Lambert Scores Four, Golden Eagles Romp Past Nelson, 6-0

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. -- Sophomore Julia Lambert netted four goals, her first career four-goal performance, and senior Lauren Walter added a six-point outing as the No. 19 John Brown University women's soccer team constructed a commanding 6-0 victory over Nelson (Texas) at Alumni Field on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 19).

With the win, a second consecutive 6-0 triumph and fifth time scoring at least six goals, the Golden Eagles (9-5-1, 5-1-0 Sooner Athletic) keep pace with Science & Arts (Okla.) and Mid-America Christian (Okla.) for the Sooner Athletic table's top seed, while the Lions (9-6-0, 4-2-0 SAC) dropped out of the previously four-team deadlock.

Lambert's outstanding performance began early, scoring the opener in the 10th minute, redirecting senior Lauren Walter's pass deep in the box, a play that began with a throw-in from senior Grace Bishop at the right flank. Lambert added her second in the 20th minute, again assisted by Walter, giving JBU a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.

The Golden Eagles dominated the second half as Lambert completed her hat trick just after the break in the 49th minute, assisted by Walter for the third time. Shortly after, Aubrey Winter added the fourth goal in the 52nd minute, this time set up by Lambert. Lambert completed her four-goal outing in the 56th minute (55:07), assisted by Walter and Elise Bosma.

Walter capped off her stellar match by adding a goal of her own in the 90th minute, assisted by freshman Katherine Keys and Bishop, to seal JBU's second consecutive 6-0 win.

JBU outshot Nelson 24-2, with goalkeeper Regan Riley (1-0-0) earning the clean sheet, making one save. The Lions' goalkeepers, Samantha Longoria and Tanner Sorenson, faced 13 shots on goal, with Sorenson registering nine saves despite conceding four goals in the second half.

Now winners of two straight after its lone conference setback, the Golden Eagles head west for the weekend before closing out league play at Alumni Field next week. JBU will next take on Wayland Baptist (Texas) on Thursday afternoon at 5 p.m. at J.V. Hilliard Field. The match will air live on the SAC Sports Network.
