SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. -- John Brown University men's basketball will tip off its 2025-26 season when the Golden Eagles host Ecclesia College (Ark.) in the 43rd Annual World-Famous Toilet Paper Game™ on Saturday (Nov. 1) at Bill George Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
John Brown is 20-0 all-time against the Royals, dating back to when the two programs began playing each other in 2008, and 2-0 versus Ecclesia in the Toilet Paper Game all-time (2017, 18). Overall, the Golden Eagles are 23-1 in the Toilet Paper Game series since 2000.
HOW IT WORKS
The game follows a simple premise: when the Golden Eagles score its first field goal of the new season, fans launch toilet paper rolls onto the court to mark the start of a new campaign. Fans can participate by bringing a canned food item to exchange for a toilet paper roll at the door.
The tradition, which began November 12, 1983 inside Murray Sells Gymnasium, returns for its 43rd year to celebrate small college basketball's best tradition – having paused only once over four decades in 2020. The annual event has been featured by national media outlets including ESPN, ESPN The Magazine, Yahoo Sports, USA TODAY, CBS Sports, NBC Sports, Business Insider, BuzzFeed and Bleacher Report.
SUPPORTING THE COMMUNITY
Kimberly-Clark Corporation, home of Scott and Cottonelle brand toilet paper, serves as this year's title sponsor and will provide 2,000 rolls for fans and an additional 2,000 rolls for title partner The Manna Center in Siloam Springs. All canned food donations collected will benefit The Manna Center, a faith-based nonprofit that provides emergency assistance including food, clothing, and referrals to individuals and families in need. Rooted in the principles of Matthew 25:35-46, the organization partners with local churches, businesses, civic groups, and volunteers to demonstrate Christ's love through practical support and service. Beyond just traditional canned goods, the organization maintains ongoing needs for peanut butter, jelly, canned tuna, canned chicken, and soups with pop-top lids.
"It's hard to believe that what started with just a few students is still going strong after 43 years," said Robyn Daugherty, John Brown University Director of Athletics. "As we celebrate another TP Game, we're so grateful to Kimberly-Clark Corporation for providing 2,000 rolls of toilet paper for our fans to throw during the game, and another 2,000 for the Manna Center. We love combining sports with service, and we're thankful for the opportunity this event provides to help our neighbors."
