Facing No. 1 Dordt, JBU Falls 92-65 to Close Orange City Trip

ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- The John Brown University women's basketball team wrapped up its two-game road swing through Orange City with a 92-65 loss to top-ranked and two-time defending national champion Dordt (Iowa) on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 8) inside the Bultman Center.

The Golden Eagles (0-4) were outshot 57 percent to 35 percent overall and 39 percent to 26 percent from long range, as the Defenders (3-0) finished with a 42-27 rebounding margin and 19 assists on 33 made field goals. Dordt also outscored John Brown 46-20 in the paint and converted 22 points off turnovers.

Freshman Tayla Trammell came off the bench and led JBU with a career-high 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting, connecting on five triples and adding four rebounds. Sophomore Sarah Snodgrass posted 16 points and a team-high nine rebounds, and sophomore Caelyn Ferguson added 12 points with three assists. Freshman Brianna Colby supplied 10 points and six boards off the bench.

Dordt featured five double-figure scorers, paced by Gracie Schoonhoven's 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Macy Sievers turned in a double-double with 15 points, 12 assists, and 11 rebounds. Willow Bleeker hit four triples to finish with 12 points, while Desta Hoogendoorn and Olivia Harazin added 12 and 11, respectively.

The Defenders shot 57 percent from the floor and 39 percent from behind the arc while hitting 79 percent at the line. JBU finished at 35 percent overall, 26 percent from deep, and 79 percent from the stripe, adding 10 second-chance points and 32 from its reserves.

Through four games, Snodgrass continues to pace the Golden Eagles at 23.0 points and 11.5 rebounds per contest. Ferguson averages 12.0 points and 3.0 assists, while Sanders contributes 9.8 points per game on 47 percent from three.

John Brown returns to action on Thursday night (Nov. 13), welcoming Ozark Christian (Mo.) for the 2025-26 home opener. Tip off is slated for 6 p.m. and will be carried live on the SAC Sports Network and the Urban Edge Network.
