OKLAHOMA CITY -- John Brown University junior forward Marko Malekinusic has been named the Sooner Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week after delivering a career-best scoring performance in the Golden Eagles' 78-76 win over College of the Ozarks (Mo.), the conference office announced Monday morning (Dec. 1).
Malekinusic poured in a career-high 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting for the Blue and Gold (5-3, 2-1 Sooner Athletic), including a career-best five triples on 5-of-8 accuracy from beyond the arc. He added three assists, two rebounds and a steal while posting the most efficient offensive outing of his JBU career, nearly doubling his season scoring average in the process.
The native of Prozor-Rama, Bosnia and Herzegovina also sealed the victory in the final seconds, blocking the Bobcats' potential game-tying layup at the buzzer to preserve the two-point margin.
Through seven games, Malekinusic is averaging 10.4 points while shooting 42.6 percent from three-point range.
