SAC Player of the Year Miranda Named NAIA All-American

Miranda’s honor caps JBU’s deepest postseason run of modern era

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- John Brown University sophomore Marcos Miranda was named an NAIA men's soccer third-team All-America selection, the national office announced Tuesday afternoon (Dec. 16), recognizing a season in which Miranda emerged as the Sooner Athletic Conference's most influential two-way midfielders.

The All-America honor caps a breakthrough 2025 campaign for Miranda, who was named Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Year after anchoring the Golden Eagles through their deepest postseason run in the modern era. He also earned first-team All-Conference honors, building on a second-team All-Conference selection as a freshman in 2024.

Miranda made his presence felt early in the season, recording at least one point in five of John Brown's first six matches while playing heavy minutes against multiple ranked opponents, li. Operating centrally, the sophomore combined composure in possession with a willingness to take responsibility in advanced areas, finishing the season with five goals and seven assists (17 points) across 19 appearances, including 17 starts.

As the competition intensified, Miranda continued to deliver in high-leverage moments. In the NAIA National Championship Second Round, he logged a season-high 110 minutes and scored against No. 11 William Carey (Miss.), helping carry the Golden Eagles through a tightly contested postseason match on the road. Over the course of the year, Miranda totaled 45 shots and 21 shots on goal, reflecting the attacking license and trust he was afforded from the midfield while also shouldering significant defensive and directing the Golden Eagle offense.

Through two collegiate seasons, Miranda has compiled 11 goals, 11 assists and 33 points in 36 matches, steadily expanding his influence from a productive freshman contributor into the centerpiece of JBU's midfield structure.

The Blue and Gold concluded the 2025 campaign with a 12-5-5 overall record (.659) and a 5-1-3 mark in Sooner Athletic play, returning to the NAIA National Championship for the first time since 2019. Unseeded in the 40-team field, the Golden Eagles advanced to the final site for the first time under the tournament's modern format, progressing farther than any SAC program in the 2025 postseason.

JBU's run came to an end in the Round of 16 against seventh-seeded MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.), but the campaign stands as the program's best postseason finish of the modern era.
