CHICKASHA, Okla. -- Junior Zoe Roberts scored her first career goal late in the contest, and the No. 6 John Brown University women's soccer team salvaged a draw at No. 22 Science & Arts (Okla.) on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 27) at McLaughlin Field.
While the Golden Eagles (3-2-3, 0-0-1 Sooner Athletic) fell behind in the 64th minute after Paula Casajus snuck behind the Blue and Gold back line and netted her third of the season, the visitors responded with an equalizer in the 81st minute to leave Chickasha with a result to begin Sooner Athletic play.
Senior Aubrey Winter won the ball back on the right flank and sent a perfect cross to the back post, where Roberts collected possession and ripped the equalizer past Ashlyn Lonberg, leveling the match at one apiece.
Just four minutes later, a long JBU free kick sailed over the USAO back line and snuck in past Lonberg, but the visitors were called offside, nullifying the would-be game winner.
Zoe's first-career goal is just what #goJBU WSOC needed to level the match at one apiece!!
