SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. -- Junior Julia Lambert posted two goals and assist and the No. 6 John Brown University women's soccer team rolled past Central Christian (Kan.) in dominating fashion, 6-0, on Tuesday night (Sept. 30) at Alumni Field.
Four different Golden Eagles (4-2-3, 1-0-1 Sooner Athletic) scored on the afternoon, including a brace from senior Olivia Fish and senior Sunnie Woodard's first collegiate goal. The offense finished with a 41-0 shooting advantage as the Blue and Gold racked up 21 corner kicks on the tilted pitch.
Junior Addie Craig added the insurance marker in the 10th minute, helping John Brown improve to 10-0-0 all-time against the Tigers (2-6-2, 0-2-0).
Sophomore Marely Fonseca patrolled the JBU net but was only called on to participate a few times as she improved to 4-1-2 on the year.
Woodard – who also was credited with the game-winner – tapped home her first career goal in the seventh minute, cleaning up in front of a wide open goal after Lambert's corner service from the left flag.
Craig ripped her fourth goal of the season less then four minutes later, capitalizing on a cross from senior Aubrey Winter that deflected off a Tiger defender in front of goal. Craig made no mistake, depositing a shot to the bottom left corner of goal to double the lead.
Lambert and Fish both scored their brace opener in the first half, just 9:32 apart. Lambert took advantage of a Tiger miscue in a vulnerable spot, shooting home her fifth of the season off a booming free kick from junior Brooklyn Hendricks. Fish's first of the afternoon came off a double deflection, first from junior Clare Barger and then from freshman Ellie Porter before Fish turned and sent a shot to the back of the goal, solidifying a 4-0 Blue and Gold lead at the intermission.
Sophomore Caitlyn Hilson began the run of play on the fifth JBU goal, sending a perfect through ball to sophomore Katherine Keys on the right wing. Keys played a low cross into the box, but Tiger goalkeeper Macy Clements couldn't keep her hands on the cross, and Lambert ripped her sixth of the season into the empty goal from just yards away.
Barger dished out her second assist of the match with just over a minute to play, setting up Fish for a one-touch strike to the left side of goal from 10 yards away, capping off the six-goal outburst.
Clements put forward an incredible outing in goal for the visitors, making 16 saves on 22 chances, and interrupting countless other Golden Eagle opportunities.
John Brown continues the two-match homestand on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 4) when the Golden Eagles host Wayland Baptist (Texas) live on the SAC Sports Network and the Urban Edge Network. The sides are slated to kick off at 2:30 p.m.
