OKLAHOMA CITY -- John Brown University sophomore Katherine Keys earned her second-career SAC Offensive Player of the Week recognition, the league office announced Tuesday morning (Sept. 2).
Keys landed the recognition for her natural hat trick performance in Friday's (Aug. 29) 11-0 victory over Avila (Mo.) at Alumni Field, where the sophomore poured in three goals in an 8:13 span of the first half. She scored her first goal in the 30th minute, added another in the 33rd and nailed down the hat trick in the 38th minute, propelling the Golden Eagles to a commanding 5-0 lead at the intermission.
The three-goal effort was the first by a Golden Eagle since Julia Lambert's four-goal outburst versus Nelson (Texas) last season on Oct. 19, 2024.
Keys has appeared in 25 career matches, making 22 starts. Last season, she poured in 11 goals and seven assists (29 points) and netted three game-winners en route to a second-team All-Sooner Athletic season.
The Blue and Gold return to action on Thursday night (Sept. 4) when the Golden Eagles take on No. 17 Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) in Littleton, Colo. at 8 p.m. at the LPS Centennial Stadium.
