OKLAHOMA CITY -- John Brown University sophomore guard Sarah Snodgrass landed Sooner Athletic Defensive Player of the Week awards after averaging 23.5 points and 17 rebounds in a two-game stretch, the conference office announced Monday morning (Jan. 26).
Snodgrass posted back-to-back 17-rebound performances, pulling down 34 total boards while logging 72 minutes across the week. She grabbed 14 defensive rebounds in a road contest at College of the Ozarks before adding 13 defensive boards and a steal in JBU's 66–61 home win over Texas Wesleyan, consistently limiting second-chance opportunities and controlling the glass at both ends.
Offensively, the Lincoln, Ark., native averaged 23.5 points while shooting 45 percent (14-of-31) from the field, providing steady production alongside her defensive presence. The honor marks the fifth Defensive Player of the Week award of her career and her eighth total weekly conference honor.
Through 18 games, Snodgrass is averaging 21.5 points and 13.2 rebounds a night while ranking fourth nationally in rebounding and eighth in scoring. She leads the Sooner Athletic in both categories and has recorded 13 double-doubles on the year.
The Blue and Gold return to action Thursday night (Jan. 29) at Mid-America Christian (Okla.). The 6 p.m. tip inside the Gaulke Activity Center will be carried live on the SAC Sports Network – for a fee.
