OKLAHOMA CITY -- After averaging 17.5 points while shooting 66.7 percent from the field across a pair of victories, John Brown University junior guard Katelyn Harviston was named the Sooner Athletic Offensive Player of the Week, presented by Digital Scoreboards, the league office announced Monday (Nov. 2).
Harviston totaled 35 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and seven steals as the Golden Eagles opened the season 2-0. The Dover, Okla., native connected on 12-of-18 attempts from the floor and 6-of-11 from beyond the arc, good for a 54.5 percent clip from three.
She opened the season with 10 points, five rebounds, three assists and five steals in a 72-52 victory over Central Baptist (Ark.) on Monday evening (Oct. 26), helping John Brown erase a first-half deficit before pulling away with a 20-0 run over the final 8:56.
Two nights later, Harviston poured in 25 points in just 22 minutes as JBU rolled past Ecclesia (Ark.), 87-37. She finished 8-of-10 from the field, buried four of six attempts from three and went 5-of-6 at the free-throw line while adding six rebounds, two assists and two steals.
The selection is the first SAC weekly award of Harviston's career and the first for the Blue and Gold during the 2026-27 season.
"I'm so thankful Katelyn is on our team. Her tenacity and maturity on the court bring us to another level every day in practice and in games," noted head coach Sydni Webb. "Even though the season has just begun, we're already seeing the impact she can make on both ends of the floor.
"I know her influence will continue to grow, and I'm grateful the Lord brought her to JBU."
The Golden Eagles return to action Friday evening (Nov. 6) at the Benedictine (Kan.) Classic in Atchison, Kan., opening the two-game event against Mission (Mo.) at 5:30 p.m. inside Ralph Nolan Gymnasium. JBU will close the weekend against Evangel (Mo.) at noon Saturday (Nov. 7).
