OKLAHOMA CITY -- John Brown University sophomore forward Caelyn Ferguson has been named the Sooner Athletic's Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Golden Eagles to a 2-0 stretch that included a road victory over No. 20 Langston.
Ferguson averaged 20.5 points while shooting 63.6 percent (14-of-22) from the field and 50 percent (4-of-8) from three-point range across wins over Central Christian (Kan.) and at No. 20 Langston.
She opened the week with 13 points and eight rebounds in a 76-66 home victory before delivering a career-high 28 points in JBU's 64-42 road win inside C.F. Gayles Fieldhouse, finishing 10-of-13 from the floor, 4-of-6 from beyond the arc and 4-of-4 at the free-throw line as the visitors ended LU's 31-game home winning streak.
The sophomore also averaged 6.5 rebounds on the week and converted 90 percent (9-of-10) of her free-throw attempts.
The honor marks the first SAC weekly award of Ferguson's career. The accolade is also the eighth won by a Golden Eagle at the conference level this season.
The Blue and Gold close out the regular season this weekend at home, starting with a 6 p.m. tip with Southwestern Christian (Okla.) on Thursday night (Feb. 19).
