Langston Has No Answer for Volleyball in Sweep, JBU Earns Home Court in Quarterfinals

LANGSTON, Okla. -- A balanced offensive attack and efficient hitting led the John Brown University volleyball team to a quick sweep (25-16, 25-13, 25-18) of Langston (Okla.) on Friday (Nov. 2) night inside the C.F. Gayles Fieldhouse.

The Golden Eagles (15-14, 13-6 Sooner Athletic) cleared the .300 hitting mark for the first time in 10 matches, and the defense held Langston (6-25, 3-17) to a mere .047 (23-19-85) effort on the match.

The win guaranteed the Golden Eagles home-court advantage on Tuesday.

Junior Megan Beck (8), sophomore Jaden Williams (8), junior Kinzee Mayo (7), sophomore Taylor Glover (7) and senior Bayli Reagan (7) paced John Brown in terminations. Needing only 37 digs, freshman Jenna Lowery scooped 12 Lion attacks.

Junior Elizabeth Williams and freshman Carrie Ciesla ran the efficient offense to the tune of 18 and 15 assists, respectively, with the visitors hitting .356 (42-11-87) on the evening.

Without the services of junior Jessica Meyer, JBU overcame and picked up its 10th sweep of the season.

Williams launched three of John Brown's five services aces from the line.

The Golden Eagles now close out the regular season with a finale at Central Christian (Kan.) tomorrow at 3 p.m. Seedings for the upcoming SAC tournament should be released in the late evening for quarterfinals matchups slated for Tuesday (Nov. 6).
