SILOAM SPRINGS -- The John Brown University men's basketball team fought to within a single-digit deficit early in the second half, but No 15 Langston (Okla.) was too much as the Lions left Siloam Springs with a 78-46 decision on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 3) inside Bill George Arena.
Junior Noah Taylor hit three triples and scored 11 points, but was the lone Golden Eagle (3-7, 1-3 Sooner Athletic) to hit double-figure scoring as the Lions (9-0, 5-0) remain undefeated and knocked off John Brown for the first time in program history.
Tristan Harper and D'Monte Brown led a quartet of Lions in scoring with 14 points, while AJ Rainey and Chereff Knox each added 10 points apiece as the visitors out-rebounded JBU, 33-19.
While both teams shot well, the Lions hit 52 percent (27-of-52) from the field and used 23 Golden Eagle miscues to score 35 points off turnovers.
Langston enjoyed 37 points off the bench and ran away with 22 points in transition.
John Brown will now head to Abe Lemons Arena on Tuesday night (Dec. 6) to face Oklahoma City at 7:45 p.m. The contest will air live on the SAC Sports Network, for a fee.
