OKLAHOMA CITY -- After averaging 20.0 points while leading all scorers in a pair of victories, John Brown University senior guard Trae Oetting was named the Sooner Athletic Offensive Player of the Week, presented by Digital Scoreboards, the league office announced Monday (Nov. 2).
Oetting added 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game as the Golden Eagles went 2-0 in Wichita, Kan., and improved to 3-0 on the season. The Kickapoo, Mo., native totaled 40 points and eight assists while knocking down six three-pointers, finishing a perfect 10-for-10 at the free-throw line and committing just two turnovers.
He opened the weekend with 18 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals in Friday evening's (Oct. 30) 91-58 victory over Ottawa (Kan.). Oetting finished 7-of-18 from the floor and connected twice from beyond the arc as John Brown never trailed in the 33-point win.
Oetting followed with a game-high 22 points in Saturday afternoon's (Oct. 31) 81-70 victory over Friends (Kan.), adding six assists and five rebounds. He buried four three-pointers and converted all eight of his attempts at the charity stripe, scoring 16 points after halftime as the Blue and Gold pulled away for its third consecutive victory to begin the year.
"Trae has picked up right where he left off last season and continues to improve for us," head coach Jason Beschta said. "He impacts the game in so many different ways, and he's very deserving of this recognition."
The selection is the second SAC weekly award of Oetting's career. He previously earned Offensive Player of the Week recognition on Jan. 20, 2025.
