Golden Eagles Post Five Program Top-10 Marks in Final, Split-Squad Weekend

PITTSBURG, Kan. -- John Brown University split its indoor track and field squad between two meets over the weekend, with the majority of competitors at the Pittsburg State (Kan.) Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic at the Robert W. Plaster Center on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 13-14), while junior Chase Schermer traveled to Fayetteville, Ark., for the University of Arkansas Tyson Invitational inside the Randal Tyson Indoor Track Center on Saturday.

The Golden Eagles produced five program top-10 performances across the two meets, highlighted by sophomore Noah Osterloh's remarkable triple jump series in Pittsburg that saw all three of his jumps rank in the program's all-time top four.

Osterloh opened with a leap of 13.44 meters (44 feet, 1.25 inches), the second-best mark in program history. He improved on his second attempt, soaring 13.64 meters (44 feet, 9 inches) to set a new program record. His third jump measured 13.35 meters (43 feet, 9.5 inches), good for fourth all-time. Freshman Silas Tugwell also competed in the long jump, recording a best mark of 6.35 meters (20 feet, 10 inches).

Freshman Katalina Chan set a new program record in the women's 200 meters, running 25.45 seconds.

In the women's 800 meters, junior Emma Morton posted a time of 2:24.36, the eighth-fastest mark in program history. Senior Emma Morton also competed in the event, running 2:28.85.

At the Tyson Invitational, Schermer placed fourth in the men's 5,000 meters with a time of 15:04.70, the third-fastest in program history.

The Golden Eagles will now shift its focus to the outdoor season, when it opens in one month at the Ouachita Baptist (Ark.) Invitational in Arkadelphia, Ark. The meet will be held at the Hickingbotham Family Track & Field.
