OKLAHOMA CITY -- John Brown University freshman Parker Ross has been named the Sooner Athletic Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, presented by Digital Scoreboards, the conference office announced Monday morning (Sept. 14).
It is the first weekly award of the season for Ross, the Broken Arrow, Okla. product.
Ross made his first career start count, playing all 90 minutes and recording a career-high five saves to lead the Golden Eagles to a 1-0 road victory over No. 18 LSU Shreveport. The five saves, coming on 10 total shots faced, secured his first career clean sheet.
JBU has now enjoyed four Player of the Week honors, including junior Juan Almanza, senior Marco Brizuela and sophomore Constantin Bauer.
The Blue and Gold return to Alumni Field on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 19) to face Columbia (Mo.) in a 5 p.m. contest - its final non-conference matchup of the campaign.
