OKLAHOMA CITY -- After rewriting the John Brown University record book with the fastest 5K in women's program history, sophomore Abigail Stucker was named the Sooner Athletic Women's Runner of the Week, presented by Digital Scoreboards, the league office announced Tuesday morning (Sept. 15).
Stucker placed fifth among 138 runners at the Queen City After Dark in Springfield, Mo., covering the 5K course at Allison Sports Town in 17:44. The Fort Worth, Texas native lowered the program record by two seconds, surpassing Allika Pearson's 17:46 mark set in 2020.
Her performance also helped the Golden Eagles finish fourth in the team standings and post a program-record 5K team time for the second consecutive meet. The Blue and Gold combined for a 1:36:00 team time after also establishing a new program standard in its previous outing (1:37:30).
The honor is the first SAC weekly award of Stucker's career.
The Golden Eagles return to action Oct. 3 at the Chile Pepper Festival, hosted by the University of Arkansas at Agri Park, with the women's race slated for 12:10 p.m.
