The 1983 John Brown University men's soccer team went 12-5-0 en route to securing its first NCCAA National Championship.
In just its sixth season of existence, the Golden Eagles relied on the team-leading 12 goals each from Glenroy Corbin and George Mondi as the pair helped JBU to a 47-18 goal differential on the season.
Finishing the regular season with an 8-5-0 record, JBU dispatched Oklahoma Wesleyan in the NCCAA District Championships before making its way to Longview, Texas for the 1983 NCCAA National Championships in late November.
In Longview, the Golden Eagles ran through the tournament by outscoring Eastern Mennonite (Va.) and Moody Bible (Ill.) by a combined score of 11-1, resulting in a matchup with Tennessee Temple for the title.
John Brown captured the NCCAA title with a convincing 3-0 victory over the Crusaders on Nov. 26, 1983.
Lambert Joseph received tournament MVP and Best Defensive honors while Scott Rowton earned Best Offensive accolades. Joseph was also named an NCCAA All-American.
